Being a victim of a few eyelashes, I was also curious to know about eyelash extension. Today, this is the new beauty trend amongst women. They love extensions as it makes the lashes look fuller and thicker and eliminate the need for mascara. I love the no-makeup look and these eyelash extensions give me a perfect no-makeup look. A common question must be coming in your mind that is eyelash extension is healthy or not? Or is it worth the time and money?
In my opinion, they are completely healthy and worth the time and effort. I am wearing extensions for the last five years. I wake up in the morning and start my day makeup-free and still look fresh and beautiful. It gives a natural look to my eyes and enhances my overall personality. Also, boost my confidence.
In this post, I am mentioning everything you want to know about eyelash extension. I will share my experience and tell you the maintenance tips.
Different Types of Eyelash Extensions
It comes in a variety of material and curls options which are mink, silk, cashmere, synthetic silk, fax mink, etc. The most important thing is to match the color of the extension and your natural lashes. Your lash stylist will tell you to figure out the best look for you.
How Much Time Does it Take to Complete the Procedure?
The whole takes about 90 minutes to complete. Make sure you visit the salon every 2-3 weeks. These visits are necessary to touch up sessions. 6mm is the minimum and 18 mm is the maximum length of the lash. They are attached with the base of the natural eyelash.
How Much Does it Cost?
It depends on the place where you live and the experience of the technician. It costs around $200 to $400 and touch-up sessions cost around $70 to $150.
Are They Painful?
Before the treatment, I was very scared. I felt anxious every time I think about tweezers. When the treatment started, I didn’t feel the discomfort as my eyes were closed.
How Long Does it Last?
They last up to six to eight weeks. We shed approx 20 lashes per week.
Is the Treatment Safe and Healthy?
I had a very good experience with the eyelash extension. But as per the global experience, I have heard some worst experience stories from many people. The serious consequences happened because of a number of reasons. Use of cheap material and tools, inexperienced technician, unhygienic salon, etc. Sometimes technician uses too much adhesive on the skin and it results in clumped lashes or even breakage in the natural lashes.
Is it Safe to Use Mascara with an Eyelash Extension?
I find no is no need to use mascara or eyeliner or lash curler. It saves so much time in the morning. But if you want to use mascara then make sure it is water-based mascara having Vitamin B5. This mascara must be formulated for easy removal so that it does not stick on the lashes.
What are Aftercare Tips for Eyelash Extension?
- Keep them for the first 24 to 48 hours. It can weaken the bond of glue and lashes.
- Do not use oil-based products.
- Use waterproof eyeliner and mascara as it is difficult to remove them.
- Do not use a cotton pad, it can snag the lashes.
- Use silk pillowcase
The Latest Trend in the Extension
Usually, women opt black or colored extensions on the upper lashes but, nowadays, the lower lash extension is gaining popularity. It makes the eyes appear larger and provide a balance with the upper lashes. I, myself, want lower lashes. I will share my experience in the next post.
