Why The World is Gravitating Toward G-Beauty?

Over the last few years, fads and trends have defined the global beauty industry. Both K-Beauty and J-Beauty, which refer to beauty products originating from Korea and Japan, have had their moments in the spotlight. However, research indicates Germany may be coming for its crown. Germany has the largest cosmetics market in Europe and had a consumption value of around 14 billion Euros in 2020, followed by France and the United Kingdom. In this article, we seek to explain the potential reasons behind the recent growth of the G-Beauty market.

The German Effect

Many may not realize it, but Germany is a very influential country. Over 80 million people live in Germany, and the German economy is one of Europe’s most dominant markets. This is why German is one of the most popular languages to learn since anyone planning to conduct business in Europe will see more opportunities if they can speak or understand the language. As a result, it’s not surprising to see the German cosmetics market behind some of the top emerging trends in the global beauty industry.

Yet, it’s not just about the country’s economic power. the standards and ethics that the German beauty market brings also play a role in the rising success of G-Beauty. For instance, while some beauty and skincare products are infused with harmful chemicals, German beauty manufacturers use an organic, farm-based approach to create their skincare and cosmetic lines.

A great example is Weleda, a Swiss-German skincare company that creates its products using biodynamic farms and labs. For those who don’t know, biodynamic farming methods reduce environmental impact and enhance and improve the quality of agricultural ingredients. this means German beauty products are higher in nutrients, active compounds, and vitamins.

Less is More

The marketing appeal of German beauty and skincare products could also explain why G-Beauty is seeing a rise in popularity. As we mentioned, fads and trends have defined the beauty industry in the past, and the same can be said about the global fashion industry. One of these beauty trends included colorful packing, and even companies like Kylie Cosmetics use bright colors and unique packaging designs to stand out on the market. However, the profitable brand ran into some issues as a result of this packaging in the past.

Recently, we have seen consumers prefer minimalist designs and packaging for their products, and the G-Beauty market caters to this audience. In many ways, we’re seeing this with nail fashion too.  For example, vibrant nail polish colors, such as those by the brand Hard Candy, are now second best to simple colors like white and beige.

One of the great things about cosmetics is that every country has its take on the market and what they define as attractive or popular. Likewise, because everyone is different, the industry is full of unique preferences. For instance, everyone has different hair types, styles, and textures. Finally, however, we’re seeing this industry come together more, and many people are seeking inspiration from markets that aren’t their own. Over the last few years, we have witnessed K-Beauty, J-Beauty, and G-Beauty hit North American markets, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
