Here’s What Toiletries You Should Carry When Travelling (And What You Shouldn’t)

I’m sure it’s true for everyone when I say that the prospect of having to lug around a giant suitcase or tons of luggage while on a trip is unappealing, to say the least.

Cosmetics and hygiene products form a large part of most women’s luggage when they travel. But carrying all of this around can become quite annoying, and become a burden. But then again, how do you know what you carry and what to leave behind?

In this article, we’re telling you about 5 things that you should always carry from home and 5 things that you can leave behind.

1. Take: Sunscreen

It doesn’t matter where you’re traveling – carrying sunscreen with you is a must. Despite its highly essential and important nature, sunscreen isn’t something you’ll find in most hotels. So you should always carry your trusted brand of sunscreen around with you when you travel in your handbag since you’ll have to reapply it when you are mid-way from one place to another as well.

2. Leave: Shampoo

Until and unless you have special shampoo requirements for conditions like dandruff or something similar, you can always leave your shampoo behind. Shampoos are usually provided by most hotels and cabins, and they tend to be of fairly good quality as well. On top of that, since it isn’t something that you’ll use every day, it isn’t essential for weekend gateways and such either.

3. Take: Deodorant

Deodorant is another essential item that you just can’t leave behind, especially when you’re traveling since you’re bound to get sweaty. Furthermore, deodorant for women with sensitive skin has to be selectively chosen to not cause discomfort. So, you can’t just use any random deodorant brand that you find, because otherwise, it may lead to irritation, redness, itchiness, and more. Carrying deodorant will also help you make sure you keep sweat and body odor at bay while you’re on the go.

4. Leave: Toothpaste

It might seem silly for us to state this, but you’d be shocked to see the number of people that carry toothpaste with them, and that too in significant amounts when they’re traveling. Toothpaste is something that you will find a variety of with ease, pretty much everywhere. So unless you’re using some kind of special toothpaste for medical reasons, which you cannot get anywhere else, you should leave your toothpaste tube at home. Most hotels and places of accommodation provide such basic items on a complimentary basis anyway.

5. Take: Skincare Items

If you have a dedicated skincare routine, then make sure that you carry all products with you. Especially if you think that these products may not be available elsewhere. Most of us carefully curate our skincare routines and make sure that every product benefits our skin as best as possible. On top of that, each item is also important on its own, and all of them play a crucial part in keeping your skin healthy and glowing. So don’t forget to carry your cleansers, serums, toners, and moisturizers. When you travel and get exposed to different weather and climates, skincare products help maintain the quality of your skin and ensure that it remains healthy.

6. Leave: Lotion

While it is important to carry your skincare items, you can leave your lotions behind. You’ll notice that you usually get good quality lotions from the hotel itself, and they are perfectly fine for you to use. Unlike skincare products, which differ widely in terms of formulation, lotions are fairly similar and tend to have pretty much the same ingredients. However, if you use some type of specially prescribed, medical lotion, then don’t forget to carry that or take care to check if you’ll be able to purchase it there.
