Appointments at the Guatemalan Consulate in Miami

  • To obtain an appointment at the Miami , enter the following link: Consular Appointment.
  • Appointments are available for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting at 8 am. Civil registration and protection procedures do not require an appointment. Remember, consular appointments are free.
  • It will only be attended with appointments scheduled online and at the scheduled time. Only the interested party can enter; please do not come with companions.

  • Bring a photocopy of your current RENAP Birth Certificate and your CUI or DPI.
  • Make payment only in Money Order: $65 Passport, $25 Consular ID, $15 DPI.

Consular Procedures


If you wish to apply for a passport, you must present an original and a photocopy of one of the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate with CUI issued by RENAP (no older than six months of issue) or
  • Personal Identification Document -DPI-
  • Also, payment with Money Order for $65
  • Copy of expired passport.

To process a passport for a minor, the minor must appear with both parents with one of the documents described above to identify the parents and the minor with a valid birth certificate with CUI issued by RENAP.

If one or both parents are in Guatemala, they must go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or one of its Departmental Delegations to deliver the authorization. A letter or power of attorney made with a lawyer is not accepted.

Personal Identification Document

If you wish to process the DPI, you must present the original and a photocopy of the following document: RENAP Birth Certificate—additionally, payment with a Money Order for $15.

Consular Card

If you wish to process a Consular Card, you must present an original and a photocopy of one of the following documents:

  • DPI or
  • RENAP Birth Certificate
  • Also, make the payment with a Money Order for $25.

Submit a receipt or document showing the exact address where you wish to receive your document.

Other Procedures

  • No appointment is required for civil registration procedures , birth, marriage, or death records.
  • No appointment is required for the visa process of foreigners who wish to enter Guatemala.

It is essential to inform the Guatemalan community abroad that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassies and Consulates, is the only one in charge of providing the information capture service for issuing private identification documents -DPI-passports—and consular cards.

Not being fooled by unscrupulous people or institutions that want to surprise you in their good faith is recommended. Requiring personal identification documents is a unique process, so it does not need processors or managers.
