Vada Chennai opens with a murder, but the murder or the victim is not seen. Instead, we have a conversation between blood-stained sickles and murderers. These are Guna (Samuthirakani), Senthil (Kishore), Velu (Holiness), and Pazhani (Dheena). Therefore, the man they killed is a big shot gangster, and they discuss how they can take his place now. This is 1987. Cut off after a year, and we see four men become rivals – Guna and Velu on one side and Senthil and Pazhani on the other.
The action changes in 2000, when we are introduced to Anbu (Dhanush), who is sent to prison for a minor scuffle with Guna’s henchman Shiva (Pavel Navjeet).
